Happy New Year!!!!
It’s hard to believe it’s 2017, well for me anyway. Time just seems to be flying by these days and every New Year’s Eve I am in awe as to how quickly a year passes by. I remember as a child it felt like an eternity to get through a school year and I could watch the clock in class slowly cruising through the minutes. Now having professional deadlines, personal appointments and everything else in between there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day or days in the year.
As I say that it makes me think about why there isn’t enough hours in a day and what it is that I didn’t accomplish to make me feel like I need more time.
Is it because as a child we don’t have the responsibilities we have as adults or is it that as we get older there are so many things we want to do that we haven’t done yet that our list seems to get longer every year and it looks like our time is being cut short.
Well I don’t have the answer to that and I’m not sure anyone really would but what I do know is that I wanted to make this year different. I wanted to start this year off by paying more attention to my days and how I spend my time.
When you look at a year more closely you see that there are 365 days, (24 hours in a day), which equals 8760 hours and a grand total of 525,600 minutes!
Surely out of all this time I should be able to accomplish everything I want to or at least a big portion of it.
My Dad always told me that there are 3 sets of 8 hours in a day. One set of 8 hours you sleep, the other set of 8 hours you work and the third set of 8 hours is your free time. Now it may not be a full 8 hours of free time because you have to prepare meals, get ready for work, drive back and forth to work, and you don’t always sleep a full 8 hours. But still if you look at it this way it’s a good way to see that there is available time to do the things we want at some point throughout the day.
As I mentioned I wanted to pay attention to my time and how I spend it this year so to start the year off I decided to finally start my blog. This is just one of the items that was on my list of things I wanted to do but never had the time, or so I thought. But this year I’m making the time! I’m dedicating at least 30 minutes out of my 1440-minute day to write. I’m excited about this and looking forward to starting this blog journey.
Welcome 2017 I’m looking forward to a great year and the adventures that await.
